As many of you know, about this time last year No. 2 Son Andrew and I embarked on the Monte Carlo or Bust Rally, travelling from here in the north-west via France, Switzerland and Italy to Monaco and back again in a week. We were raising funds for our respective charities, and bought a Citroën Xsara VTRi specifically for the purpose. Named (almost inevitably) Sara she was a joy to drive and got us there and back with nary a dissenting murmur. If you didn’t know about all this, please visit our blog of the trip.
Having safely returned, and Sara having been bought specifically for that purpose, she was then redundant and it was with real, deep regret that she was passed on for a nominal sum to the garage who looks after Ava, Goschen Street Garage in Blyth, as a garage runabout. 12 months on she is still giving of her best, and today I found her parked behind Ava. It was a photo opportunity not to be missed, so here they are:
It’s a pity they’re tail-to-tail and not nose-to-nose, but as the saying is – beggars can’t be choosers.
